After a disappointing 2024 football campaign, the Utah State Aggies are looking to quickly forget the 2024 season and look toward the 2025 season with optimism.
Coming off a 3-4 conference record and a 4-8 overall record, fans are hungry for a rebound year, and new Aggie head coach Bronco Mendenhall wasted no time making waves. Utah State signed 36 new players on signing day, a haul that 247 sports ranked as the fourth-best recruiting class in the Mountain West. In total, the Aggies have added roughly 70 new players to the program this offseason, completely overhauling the roster and signaling a new era in Logan.
Mendenhall has been on a coaching staff since 1989, coaching at notable schools during his lengthy tenure at the collegiate level. BYU fans will remember him well, first as the Cougars defensive coordinator in 2003, then as head coach from 2005-2015.
His first signing class features 12 prep athletes, seven junior college transfers and 17 four-year transfer students. Nearly one-third of the 36 newcomers from signing day come from Utah, signaling that recruiting in the Beehive State will be central to building the Aggies’ new identity.
With a lot still to prove and a fresh roster itching to hit the turf, Utah State opens their season at home against UTEP on August 30th. Kickoff is slated for 5:30 p.m MT and will be streamed on FBS 1.
