Boise State Football rides momentum into 2025 with a Top 25 ranking

The Boise State Broncos are back in the national spotlight, earning a coveted spot in the Associated Press Top 25 Preseason Poll.

This year's preseason ranking is a special one, as the last time the Broncos were a Top 25 team in the preseason was way back in 2018 when they were ranked No. 22. That year Boise State held a strong 10-3 overall record and 7-1 mark in conference play.

The placement for the reigning Mountain West champions comes as no surprise. Fans already saw the writing on the blue turf after the Broncos landed the No. 25 seed in the US LBM Coaches Poll. 

Boise State is now coming off an impressive 2024 campaign led by star running back Ashton Jeanty and quarterback Maddux Madsen. Madsen was named Preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and was one of 10 Broncos named Preseason All-Mountain West. 

The Broncos didn’t just win the Mountain West last year, they dominated it. They went a perfect 7-0 in conference play, finished 12-2 overall and claimed the title for the second straight season. That dominance earned them the No. 3 seed in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, complete with a first round bye in the VRBO Fiesta Bowl. 

Now, the countdown begins. Boise State is set to kick off its much-anticipated 2025 season at South Florida on Thursday, August 28 at 3:30 p.m. MT and will air nationally on ESPN, giving the Broncos another chance to show the country why they belong among college football’s elite.
