Boise State’s Maddux Madsen named to prestigious Manning Award Watch List

It’s time to add yet another Bronco to the 2025 awards watch list – quarterback Maddux Madsen has been nominated for yet another prestigious honor.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl announced that Madsen has been named to the Manning Award Watch List, presented annually to the nation’s top quarterback – a prize that would be a sparkling addition to any QB’s résumé.
Madsen is the only Mountain West player among the 27 on the list. His name is already familiar on the awards circuit, having also been featured on the Davey O’Brian Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award watch lists. He was selected to the Shrine Bowl 1000 Watchlist and earned Preseason All-Mountain West First Team honors.
The Bronco team captain is more than worthy of the recognition. As Boise State’s starting quarterback, he led the Broncos to a 13-2 record, throwing for 4,252 yards and 32 touchdowns in 24 career games.
Perhaps most impressive is his touchdown-to-interception ratio – 23:6 – which ranks fifth among the 27 Manning Award candidates and third-highest among quarterbacks with more than 20 touchdown passes last season.
Madsen now joins nine other Boise State teammates who are in the running for various national awards. With an accolade-stacked roster, the Broncos will look to turn preseason recognition into proof on the field – and maybe silence a few doubters along the way.
